Family Bulldog is a leading French Bulldog breeder in the USA and have been selling to families for the past 12 years. This case study, we will explore how they received so many inquiries for 1/5 the cost of what they were paying before and currently averaging 1-sale per week.

1-sale per week (hint - Google Performance Max is the reason)...

The Challenge

Family Bulldog previously had a high cost per lead on both Facebook& Instagram ads. They initially started off posting on FREE sites like craigs lists and dog related sites. However found there was no consistency in lead flow and as a result, sales were not predictable. They tried platforms like Facebook and Instagram where the prices averaged around $15 per lead however the quality was bad. Most people were tire kickers and had no idea how much these dogs cost. They needed a solution that would provide sub $5 opt-ins with good quality prospects.

First, we implemented a marketing strategy which evolved around optimizing the landing page. We needed to drive curiosity and give enough value for people to leave their name, email and phone number. The video below is the mobile optimized landing page that we created inside of their Shopify store.

We worked closely with Family Bulldog to set up the Google Performance Max campaign which consists of using all of Google's channels: search, shopping, display, YouTube and Gmail.

First, we implemented a marketing strategy which evolved around optimizing the

landing page. We needed to drive curiosity and give enough value for people to leave

their name, email and phone number. The video below is the mobile optimized landing

We worked closely with Family Bulldog to set up the Google Performance Max

campaign which consists of using all of Google's channels: search, shopping, display,

YouTube and Gmail.

We also implemented an innovative system to get consultations booked straight into the calendar, without the need for any staff involvement. Instead of using ads to collect leads, we used a landing page with a calendar. The company went from averaging 45 consultations to over 300 consultations per month with an average cost per consultation of £15. This increased company efficiency significantly as the company’s staff could focus on what they do best, delivering industry leading patient care. 

With Google Performance Max, we need to set up a variety of creatives. Display, video,

static images and GIF. Like any channel, it started slow and the client was worried. The

numbers were high and quality of leads, not great. But the algorithm was learning.

Below are the numbers from the start of the campaign until beginning of November.

We introduce NEW creative 1/2 way along and that played a big role in increasing CTRs

and total number of clicks. To be honest, the quality of the leads have NOT been great,

so we fixed this by adding MORE questions to the opt-in page. The prospect had a

combination of open ended and bubble questions they needed to answer. Lead quality

increased tremendously.

We also introduced “The Patient Journey”, this was to increase the show up rate of the consultations. Naturally, going for a medical consultation is quite nerve wracking at the best of times so we wanted to put the patient’s mind at ease. We created a series of videos in partnership with Juvida Clinics which included topics relevant to the company. Such as the benefits of attending a consultation, how hair transplants work, pricing & finance etc. 

This had an immediate effect, increasing show up rates to 88%. The company’s turnover also 4x’d during this time frame.

These are the numbers that we presented to the client in the first 5 weeks of the campaign.

Quality of the leads has gotten better but still needs to improve.
